Absa Bank, formerly Barclays Bank, is a leading financial institution in South Africa and across Africa. It was established in 1991 as Amalgamated Banks of South Africa (ABSA) and later rebranded in 2005. The bank operates in multiple African countries and offers a wide range of banking services to both individuals and businesses.

In 2017, Barclays sold its majority stake in Absa, making it independent again, although the two still maintain a relationship. Absa is known for its strong focus on digital banking, innovation, and corporate social responsibility initiatives throughout Africa.
