MENTAL HEALTH SOCIETY OF GHANA (MEHSOG)

The Mental Health Society of Ghana (MEHSOG) is a grassroots membership organization that encompasses a wide range of mental health and epilepsy service users, along with their primary caregivers, throughout Ghana.

As a non-governmental organization, MEHSOG advocates for the needs and interests of individuals living with mental illness or epilepsy, as well as their caregivers and families. The organization aims to ensure that the voices of these individuals are heard and represented in relevant discussions and forums. MEHSOG boasts a membership of over 18,000 individuals across the country.

What We Do
✦We promote socio-economic wellbeing of people with mental illness and/or epilepsy.
✦We co-operate with likeminded associations and bodies as well as with the Government of Ghana and advocate in pursuit of the advancement of mental health.
✦We educate the public and increase interest in psycho-social disability issues to reduce stigma.
✦We empower user groups self advocate self advocate and fulfill their rights.
✦We influence key policy decision makers to develop policies and legislations that address the needs and rights of people with mental illness and their primary care-givers.
✦We deepen existing mental health and development program and provide a national outlook.
✦We empower communities to ensure social and economic integration of people with mental disorders and epilepsy.
