KINTAMPO WATERFALLS AND CANOPY WALKWAY
Techiman-Tamale Highway, Lafiaru – Kintampo - Get directionsLocated on the Pumpum River, a tributary of the Black Volta, Kintampo Waterfalls is one of Ghana's highest waterfalls. Formerly known as Sanders Falls, it is located about four kilometers north of the Kintampo municipality on the Kumasi-Tamale road.
The Pumpum River cascades seventy meters down beautiful rocky steps. The waterfall has three unique stages accessible by a footpath. The final stage offers a unique twist, as visitors must descend a winding flight of steps to reach the beautiful waterfall. The site also offers facilities for tourists.
An added attraction at Kintampo Waterfalls is the canopy walkway, which spans two locations over a valley. It can safely support a maximum load of 20 people at a time, each weighing an average of 100 kilograms. This is because the maximum tensile force produced by this load (101.6 KN) is well below the allowable tensile force of the cables (427 KN). The walkway is therefore structurally sound and safe.
