MOUNT LEKLATA

Despite some signage and information to the contrary, Mount Leklata is the highest peak in Ghana, surpassing the more commonly cited Mount Afadjato. Mount Leklata boasts an elevation of 900 meters (2,953 feet) and is situated in the Volta Region of Ghana, near the border with Togo.

Located approximately 4.6 kilometers (2.9 miles) east of Mount Afadja, Leklata forms part of the Togo-Atakora Mountains. The peak resides within the Hohoe Municipal District, straddling the border between Ghana's Volta Region and Togo's Plateaux Region.

However, the summit of Leklata is located just a few meters west of the border, placing it firmly within Ghanaian territory. In contrast, Mount Afadjato, often mistakenly identified as Ghana's highest peak, measures only 587 meters (1,926 feet) in elevation and lies about five kilometers to the west of Leklata. Leklata has an embrasure height of 82 meters and a dominance of 3.12 kilometers.
