The Bank is responsible for formulating and implementing monetary policy aimed at achieving its objectives. It works to stabilize the value of the currency both within Ghana and internationally through monetary measures. The Bank also institutes policies that are likely to positively impact the balance of payments, public finances, and the overall development of the national economy.

What We Do
✦We regulate, supervise, and direct the banking and credit system, ensuring the smooth operation of the financial sector.
✦The Bank promotes, regulates, and supervises payment and settlement systems, and is tasked with issuing and redeeming currency notes and coins.
✦Maintenance and management of Ghana's external financial services.
✦The Bank issues banking licenses, regulates, promotes, and supervises non-banking financial institutions
✦ We act as banker and financial adviser to the government.
✦We promote and maintain relations with international banking and financial institutions and, subject to the Constitution or other relevant laws, implements international monetary agreements to which Ghana is a party.



Aside our Head Office, we have representative offices at Accra Cedi House (Liberia Road), Hohoe (Volta Region), Kumasi (Ashanti Region), Sunyani (Bono Region), Tamale (Northern Region) and Takoradi (Western Region).
